Legalization Efforts -Council Member Kathyrn Freed's Bill to Legalize Ferrets (Intro 627-A): Council Member Kathryn E. Freed, a long time animal advocate on the City Council, introduced a bill (a bill is law in progress) to legalize ferrets in NYC. The City Council passed the bill but it was vetoed by Mayor Giuliani. In the end the City Council was about 4 votes short of being able to overturn the Mayor's veto. Pro-ferret Council Members included Herbert E. Berman, Adolfo Carrion Jr., Stephen DiBrienza, June M.
